National Virtual Seminar Organised on National Sports Day
As the World witnessed the Tokyo Olympics 2020 just after the deadly outbreak of Covid 19 pandemic. Olympic games at Tokyo was successfully conducted in which our country India has first time bagged 07 medals in its history of Olympic games out of which 1 Gold, 2 Silver and 4 Bronze medals. Keeping in mind this grand achievement in Olympics by India and our youth must understand the importance of sports culture, inspired from it and learn the sports, so that we can bagged more medals in future, with this objective in mind A National Level Virtual Seminar was Organised on National Sports Day. This virtual National Seminar was jointly organised by S. S. Jaiswal College Arjuni/Morgaon in Association with Taywade College Koradi Nagpur and Academy of Physical Education. The title of the seminar was “Indian Olympic performance: Heralding a New Era of Indian Sports Culture.”
For the inaugural ceremony Dr Anil karwande, President of Academy of Sports Education was the President. Chief guest for this session were Dr. Sanjay Dudhe, Pro-Vice Chancellor RTM Nagpur University Nagpur and Umesh Yadav renowned Indian fast bowler, Dr. Sharyu Taywade, Principal Taywade College, Koradi Nagpur and Dr. Ashwin Chandel Principal S. S. Jaiswal College Arjuni/Morgaon were also present.
Dr. Sanjay Dudhe in his inaugural speech congratulated the organisers of this seminar and shared his views regarding Government’s Sports Policy, “if we have to produce excellence in sports then we have to look into each and every aspects from the Grassroot level”, he said.
Dr Anil kharwande in his speech expressed that, “we looked after the sports and games only when we are participating in any sports event but for better performance of the sports we should think and plan for it everyday”.
During the first session of the seminar Dr. Arvind Malik, Professor, Department of Sports Kurukshetra University and Dr. Arvind Sajwan, Registrar, Laxmibai Institute of Physical Education, Gwalior enlightened on India’s sports policy, nutritional requirements of the players, etc. In the second session Dr Paramveer Singh, Professor, Department of Sports Patiala and Dr. Kalyan Kumar Manjhi Retired Scientist Sports Authority of India shared their views on facilities available in games and sports in India and also threw light on the thinking and mentality of Indian communities towards the sports and sportpersons.
The concluding session was chaired by Dr Sharad Suryavanshi, Director Department of Sports and Physical Education RTM Nagpur University Nagpur and Shri Vijay Singh Chauhan Arjun awardee, Olympian was the chief guest. About 100 participants attended this virtual seminar. The seminar was conducted by Dr Pramod Bhotmange and Prof. Laxmikant Kapgate and vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Gopal Paliwal.
