Shivprasad Sadanand Jaiswal College, Arjuni/Morgaon, established in 1990 under Shri Durga Shikshan Sanstha, has been dedicated to providing quality higher education, especially to students from rural, tribal, and naxal-affected regions. Founded through the vision of Shraddheya Shivprasadji Jaiswal, the institution continues to flourish under the leadership of Hon’ble President Shri Mukeshji Jaiswal and Secretary, Shri Lunkaranji Chitlange. Reaccredited by NAAC with a “B” Grade (CGPA 2.11), the college remains committed to excellence in teaching, learning, research, and community engagement while preparing for its fourth accreditation cycle.
SSJC offers a diverse range of undergraduate programmes in Humanities, Commerce and Science, as well as postgraduate programmes in the faculties of Humanities and Science. The college is also recognized as a Centre for Higher Learning and Research, providing Doctoral programmes leading to Ph.D. Degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, Botany, Physics and Geography. With a team of well-qualified faculty members and excellent facilities, including modern laboratories, ICT-enabled classrooms, a well-stocked library, a seminar hall, an indoor stadium and a gymnasium, outdoor sports facilities, the institution fosters a vibrant and enriching academic atmosphere. SSJC places strong emphasis on academic achievement, discipline, analytical and critical thinking, and the pursuit of lifelong learning. Through its holistic approach to education, the college aspires to nurture socially conscious and responsible citizens who can make valuable contributions to society and excel in their chosen professions.
In addition to its academic and research facilities, SSJC is committed to environmental sustainability, skill development and the overall well-being of its students and the wider community. The institution has developed a Miyawaki project within its campus and promotes sustainable practices through initiatives such as vermi-composting, aquaculture and an Azolla cultivation plant. To extend educational opportunities to a wider section of society, the college also provides distance education facilities through its Yashwantrao Chavan Maharashtra Open University (YCMOU) Distance Learning Centre, offering undergraduate programmes in Humanitties (B.A.), Commerce (B.Com.) and Science (B.Sc.). In its endeavour to empower students and women in the community through vocational education, the college conducts a Fashion Designing Course as an extension activity of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur, in collaboration with our esteemed institution and Samta Foundation, Mumbai. To enhance the teaching–learning process through technology, five classrooms are equipped with interactive display panels for effective learning experiences for the students. Furthermore, the safety and security of students, staff and visitors remain a priority, with the entire campus is covered by CCTV surveillance. Collectively, these initiatives reflect SSJC’s commitment to fostering an inclusive, technologically advanced, environmentally sustainable and secure educational environment that promotes lifelong learning and community development.
Recently, the institution has also introduced a dedicated Yoga Centre to promote physical fitness, mental well-being and a healthy lifestyle among students, staff and members of the community. In addition, SSJC has established a Guest House to provide comfortable accommodation for visiting dignitaries, resource persons, researchers and other guests. These newly introduced facilities further strengthen the institution’s commitment to holistic development, hospitality and the well-being of its stakeholders.
The institution currently (academic session 2026-27) enrolls 838 students in its undergraduate programmes and 340 students in its postgraduate programmes, along with 9 research scholars pursuing their research at our recognized Research Centre. In accordance with the direction of Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur, SSJC has adopted the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 framework, following the 3-2-1 pattern, from the academic year 2026–27 onwards. Demonstrating its commitment to the effective implementation of the new curriculum, faculty members from various disciplines have authored and published prescribed textbooks and easy notes in various subjects in align with NEP 2020. The institution also endeavours to make education accessible and affordable by facilitating various scholarship schemes for eligible students, including Government of India (GOI) Scholarships and the Swadhar Yojana, which provides support to students who are not accommodated in government hostels and must travel from distant places to pursue their education. Through these initiatives, SSJC strives to promote inclusive education, academic advancement and equal opportunities for all learners.
The institution has installed a 15 KW rooftop solar power plant as part of its commitment to environmental sustainability and the promotion of renewable energy. This initiative has helped reduce the college’s dependence on conventional sources of electricity while encouraging the use of clean and renewable energy. The installation of the solar power system represents a significant step towards sustainable development, energy conservation and the creation of an environmentally responsible campus.
