Shri Durga Shikshan Sanstha, Arjuni/Morgaon, was established in 1985 by the visionary educationist Shraddheya Shivprasad Sadanand Jaiswal along with his dedicated associates, with the noble objective of providing quality higher education to students belonging to rural, underprivileged, tribal, and naxal-affected regions, with special emphasis on the education of girls. The institution’s motivation is based on the noble concept derived from the Rigveda, ”आनो भद्रा ऋतवो यन्तु विश्वतः ” It means “Let all knowledge in the world come to us.” By adhering to this vision, the institution is pursuing qualitative outcomes and excellence in higher education in Maharashtra’s eastern region.
Inspired by this sacred mission of spreading knowledge and enlightenment, Shivprasad Sadanand Jaiswal College was established in the year 1990. What began as a small sapling of knowledge has today grown into a flourishing institution of higher learning. The college offers education through the three major faculties (Humanities, Commerce, and Science) and continues to contribute significantly to the academic and intellectual development of the region.
The remarkable progress of the college in various fields is the result of the positive and progressive approach of the management, coupled with the sincere efforts of experienced, qualified, and dedicated faculty members who continuously strive for the holistic development of the institution and its students. The institution remains committed to the ideals of humanism, high moral values, scientific temperament, ethical practices, relevant idealism, and academic excellence. It is the earnest endeavour of the institution to provide students with opportunities that ensure their overall personality development and prepare them to become responsible citizens of society.
The college is permanently affiliated to Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University, Nagpur, and is recognized by the Government of Maharashtra. The institution is also recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC), New Delhi, under Sections 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act in 2001.
The college has successfully completed three cycles of assessment and accreditation by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bengaluru, and has been accredited with a “B” Grade, thereby maintaining its quality status in higher education. The institution is continuously striving to enhance and sustain academic excellence while preparing for the fourth cycle of NAAC accreditation.
In addition, the college actively participates in national quality enhancement and assessment initiatives such as the National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) and the All-India Survey on Higher Education (AISHE). The institution has also successfully conducted Green Audit initiatives and has been awarded ISO Certification, reflecting its commitment to quality education, environmental consciousness, and institutional excellence.
