Event briefs

As a part of bird week 2022 celebration, Department of Zoology, S. S. Jaiswal College, Arjuni Mor. was organized a Two days Nature Camp at Navegaon national park, Dist gondia on dated 12th and 13th November 2022. The programme was in association with Maharashtra Forest department, hirwad NGO, Gondia and NNTR.

A two days nature camp was inaugurated by the hands of Prof. Ishwar S. Mohurley, Principal S. S. jaiswal College Arjuni Mor. by floral garlanding to the photo of Bird Man of India Dr. Salim Ali. The chairman of the inauguration ceremony organized at Auction Hall, Navegaon national Park, Navegaon was Shri. Dada Raut, Lodging Officer, Navegaon Bandh. The chief guests present during inauguration ceremony were Shri Sachin Dongarwar, RFO, Wildlife, Navegaon bandh, Shri Rupesh Nimbarte, President, Hirwad, Gondia, Dr. K. J. Sibi, IQAC Coordinator, S. S. Jaiswal College Arjuni Mor. the programme was conducted by Shri Bhimrao lade and vote of thanks was proposed by Dr. Sharad Meshram. Invited guests present during programme were Dr. Dange sir, Dr. Kapgate sir, Mr. Lokhande sir, Mr. Raut sir, Prof. nakade sir, Dr. Kawale sir, Dr. Chandak Sir of S. S. jaiswal College Arjuni Mor. about 20 forest guards, STPF officials, NGO members and 30 students of S. S. Jaiswal College, Arjuni Mor. were present.

Second session of the first day was technical session which was organized in auction hall and consist of three power point presentations by Shri. Rupesh Nimbarte and Dr. Gopal Paliwal. First presentation was delivered by Shri Rupesh Nimbarte on topic, “Tips on Bird Watching” and second presentation was deliverd by Dr. Gopal paliwal on topic, “Vulture conservation”. After a short tea break third presentation deliverd by Shri Rupesh nimbarte on topic, “Wetland Conservation”.

After the end of technical sessions we moved towards the dormatary house located at Navegaon National Park. Our accommodation was in dormatary house. After having lunch, a interaction session was organized. In interaction session, students directly interacted with the experts Shri. Rupesh Nimbarte, Shri. Bhimrao Lade, Dr. Gopal Paliwal, Dr. Manoj Bangadkar and they ask about the queries and doubt about the bird watching, bird sounds and bird watching at night.

A second day was started with a cup of tea at early morning. We all are gather in front of canteen to go for the bird watching which was organized on different wetlands of the nearby region. For bird watching a mini bus was provided by the forest department to reach the different wetlands. The wetlands selected for the bird watching was Bhursi lake, Siregaon bandh and Navegaon bandh lake. We observed many native and migratory bird species on that lake.

Our bird watching was completed upto 11.30 am and we came back to our residential place dormitory house. All the data of recorded birds was compiled and discussed. The checklist of 70 migratory and residential birds was prepared by us. After last discussion programme, a valedictory programme was organized in corridor of dormitory house at 12.00 noon. The chief guests of valedictory programme were Prof. Lokhande sir, Shri Rupesh Nimbarte, Shri Chhatrapal Chaudhary, Dr. gopal Paliwal and Dr. Manoj bangadkar. In this valedictory programme students were gives feedback and certificates were distributed to the participants. The two days nature camp was ended with a lots of sweet memories and loads of experiences.
