Event briefs

Shivprasad Sadanand Jaiswal College, Arjuni Morgaon, District Gondia, organized a Farmers Meet in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, Government of Maharashtra, and the Taluka Agriculture Office, Arjuni Morgaon. The event took place on December 20, 2023, at noon in the college seminar hall.

The program was inaugurated by Shri Lunkaran Chitlange, President of Shri Durga Shikshan Sanstha. The inaugural session was graced by the esteemed presence of key dignitaries: Dr Ishwar Mohurley, Principal of Shivprasad Sadanand Jaiswal College, Mr Rupesh Meshram, Madal Krushi Adhikari, Mr. Vilas Kohate, BTM, ATMA, Mr. Pankaj Suryawanshi, Agriculture Supervisor, Dr. Laxmikant Borkar, Program Coordinator, Laxmikant Kapgate, Assistant Coordinator, IQAC.

Dr. Borkar set the tone for the event with an introductory remark, providing an overview of the objectives and significance of the Farmers Meet. Dr. Ishwar Mohurley elaborated on the nutritional and ecological significance of millets, highlighting the college’s efforts in spreading awareness among farmers about the benefits of incorporating millets into their farming practices. Mr. Rupeshkumar Meshram delivered a presentation on the importance of millets, emphasizing the theme of International Millet Year 2023 and its relevance to sustainable agriculture practices. Mr. Vilas Kohate addressed the audience on the initiatives and goals of Dr Panjabrao Deshmukh  Natural Farming Mission, shedding light on the mission’s contribution to promoting organic and sustainable farming practices. Some farmers took initiative and shared their success stories.

Mr. Laxmikant Kapgate skillfully compared the various aspects of the program, providing insights into its success and impact. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Mr. Ankit Nakade, expressing gratitude to all the participants, dignitaries, and collaborators who contributed to the success of the Farmers Meet.

The event witnessed a significant turnout, with attendance from many farmers, teachers, students, and officials from the agriculture office, creating a diverse and engaged audience.
