The Department of English, Shivprasad Sadanand Jaiswal College, Arjuni Morgaon, Dist. Gondia (MH), organized an Online National Quiz on the occasion of Edgar Allan Poe’s birth anniversary. The event aimed to celebrate the life and literary contributions of Edgar Allan Poe, a renowned literary master known for his innovative use of language and exploration of the darker facets of human experience. The quiz took place on 19th January 2024, marking the birth anniversary of Edgar Allan Poe. The event was conducted online to ensure maximum participation from all over India.
The primary objective of the Online National Quiz was to provide a platform for literature enthusiasts and students to test their knowledge and appreciation of Edgar Allan Poe’s life and works. The quiz aims to promote intellectual engagement, critical thinking, and a deeper understanding of Poe’s literary legacy. The quiz featured a diverse range of questions, covering various aspects of Edgar Allan Poe’s life, poetry, short stories, and literary contributions. The event garnered enthusiastic participation from students, scholars, and literature enthusiasts from across the nation. The online format allowed for a broad reach, bringing together individuals passionate about literature and Poe’s legacy.
The online quiz witnessed active engagement from over 100 participants, representing diverse academic institutions. Students hailing from Ranchi University in Jharkhand, Chhatrapati Shahuji Maharaj University in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, RTM Nagpur University in Nagpur, Sant Gadgebaba University in Amaravati, and Gondwana University in Gadchiroli demonstrated their keen involvement in the event. Dr. K. J. Sibi – IQAC Coordinator, Head of the Department of English, Mr R D Thaware – Convenor, Assistant Professor, Department of English, Mr. Laxmikant Kapgate – Organizing Secretary, Department of English, Dr. Swati Madavi – Organizing Secretary, Department of English worked hard for the success of the event. E-certificates were distributed to all the participants through their registered email address.
