On 18 August 2026, the Internal Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and IPR Cell of Shivprasad Sadanand Jaiswal College, Arjuni/Morgaon, Dist. Gondia, successfully organized a national-level online workshop on “Introduction to IPR, Patent and Design Filing” in collaboration with the Rajiv Gandhi National Institute of Intellectual Property Management (RGNIIPM), Nagpur.
The workshop was organized with the objective of creating awareness among faculty members, research scholars, and students about Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), patents, industrial designs, and the patent filing process. The program provided participants with valuable insights into the importance of protecting innovative ideas, research outcomes, and creative works through appropriate intellectual property mechanisms.
The program was chaired by Prof. Ishwar Mohurley, Principal, Shivprasad Sadanand Jaiswal College, Arjuni/Morgaon. Dr. Laxmikant Kapgate, IQAC Coordinator, graced the program as a distinguished guest.
The resource person for the workshop was Mr. Kumar Raju, Assistant Controller of Patents, RGNIIPM, Nagpur, who delivered an informative and practical session on IPR and patents.
The programme commenced with the formal anchoring and introduction by Dr. D. L. Chaudhari, organizing secretary. He welcomed the dignitaries, resource persons, faculty members, research scholars, students, and participants from across India. He also briefly highlighted the purpose and importance of organizing the workshop on intellectual property rights and patent filing.
This was followed by a technical session delivered by Mr. Kumar Raju, Assistant Controller of Patents, RGNIIPM, Nagpur. He provided an insightful introduction to Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) and explained the significance of patents in protecting innovative ideas and research-based inventions.
The resource person discussed various important aspects of patents and IPR, including the basic concept of intellectual property, the importance of patent protection, the patentability of inventions, and the general procedure involved in patent filing. The session helped participants understand the relevance of intellectual property protection in academic research, innovation, and technological development.
The practical orientation of the session was particularly useful for research scholars and students who are involved in innovative projects and research activities. Participants gained a better understanding of how innovative ideas and inventions can be protected through appropriate intellectual property rights.
Prof. Ishwar Mohurley, principal and chairperson of the program, addressed the participants. In his address, he appreciated the initiative taken by IQAC to organize the workshop in collaboration with RGNIIPM, Nagpur. He emphasized the importance of innovation, research, and intellectual property awareness in the present academic environment. He also encouraged faculty members, research scholars, and students to develop innovative ideas and take appropriate steps to protect their intellectual contributions through patents and other forms of IPR.
The workshop received an encouraging response, with approximately 356 participants registered from different parts of India. The participation of faculty members, research scholars, and UG and PG students made the program academically enriching and interactive. Prof. Ankit Nakade proposed the vote of thanks. He expressed sincere gratitude to the chairperson, resource person, IQAC coordinator, organizing secretary, faculty members, research scholars, students, and all the participants for their valuable contribution and active participation in making the workshop successful.
